Montana Lady, There are no animals in the Life of Pi. At all. What you see in that movie is completely CGI.

I loved the movie, then read an article about animal care in Hollywood movies is still not really regulated. It said the tiger nearly died while they were filming 'The Life of Pi'.
The article is titled something along the lines of, "No Animals Were Harmed, But The Tiger Almost Drowned", if anyone wants to Google it.
