He was amazing.

He certainly ranks with daVinci. He changed and even invented art styles ( or movements) and completed technically brilliant works throughout his life.

He would not let the painting go to Spain until Franco died and the Regime changed.

Since the others are French, Picasso seemed a safe bet.
