What is a quetzal?

lola, after two visits to Guatemala, I got a quetzal tattoo on my upper arm. The tattoo artist refused to make the tail go below my elbow, even though I showed him a photo of this beautiful bird in flight.

as a child I loved the word Quetzalcoatl. so enjoyable to say!

quetzals are the national bird in Guatemala. They are a symbol of freedom for the native populations because it is said that if you try to cage them, they die.

PC, No, not in the current photo. They are a very beautiful bird indeed, well worth the independent research, even if it is to only view the pictures.
