In Greek mythology, what did Pandora's box contain?

Never heard of hope being at the bottom of pandora's box, like to think of it that way :)

RushMama2112, Hope is just as much an Evil as all the others contained in the box. Nowhere is it implied, hinted or suggested that Hope was an exception. When all other evils are discounted, Hope still remains to lift us up, and then mercilessly dash our heart's desires against the rocks of despair.

I would like to see a world where the "evils" of man we're NOT unleashed by women... cough, cough... thinking of you Ms. Eve and Pandora.

i hate to be a party pooper but the story of Pandora has been mistranslated over time. when she opened the lid everything that is evil, and good, was let out into the world with the exception of hope. to the ancient Greeks, not having hope readily available was a warning they were all just toys of the gods, and mankind is destined to live without hope
