I've made this comment before, usually in response to JFK questions: Kennedy was assassinated in Texas and the man who took over the presidential position was from Texas. Lyndon B Johnson (perhaps Air Force 1) was sworn in on an airplane and within a few days, the troop involvement in Vietnam was tripled.
