So disrespectful saying the dingo ate my baby as a family really lost their baby girl this way. Im sorry to say shame on you peeps but I can understand how a line from a film can get stuck in ones head. Sadly this true story wasn’t believed for many years in fact the mother actually spent time in prison for it & it severed a family & their marriage. Many years later we have many dingo & moreover dog attacks some resulting in death enough to prove she was persecuted for a crime she more than likely did not commit. I think there’s been many cases on the holiday destination, Fraser Island off Queensland I remember hearing .. where the dingoes have hunted in packs & even been able to undo some buckles on tents etc they once quite recently, were very nearly able to obtain the infant had his family not intervened the dingo actually had stolen the babe mumma had to wrestle him free & she was surrounded by a pack in the dark oh how very very scary.

The Dingo is a species all to its own. It can breed with dogs but it was never a domestic animal until it lived with the Aborigines. Some of the information here needs to be checked and corrected

Jonesy, So how come Australia is overrun with rabbits? And if the earliest known fossil is 3450 years old , that’s not when there was a land bridge

The dingo might have come here when there was a land bridge to Asia. Whether they come with the aboriginal people or by themselves is up for dabate. It has been shown that where there are dingo's, there is a noticeable decrease of feral animals, like cats, foxes and rabbits.
