Why did Guy de Maupassant have lunch at the Eiffel Tower’s base restaurant every day?
Correct answer: He didn't see the Tower from it
Jamie
the irony! that he had to be in it not to see it.
Daniel
kinnikat, he probably despised it because he thought it would impede the natural beauty of his city. Perhaps as well thought about how his city would be plagued by tourists wanting to gawk at the tower. This is all speculation on my part but they seem to be pretty valid reasons. It's why I now despise the gentrification of London.

kinnikat, I believe it was Andre Dumas whose description kind of explains the perspective of the 300. It was, roughly, "a huge, overbearing, black, iron smokestack."
kinnikat
Why would he despise it so much? huh, interesting.

I think this guy was being a drama queen as a) he would have to see it when going to it and b) there are plenty of places near it where you can't see it.
Milo
imagine that the city you live in decides to build a never seen monster building which don't fit at all with other buildings in neighborhood.

Milo, how about building a $25 million footbridge across a dry creek bed for the purpose of bird watching when there aren't any birds around there? Hello Phoenix, Arizona.

GI Joe, he could have simply moved to another town but chose to stay there.

Jamie, I love the irony. Doesn't it speak to humanity, how we generally have to go through most of the challenges in life to get out of them. Instead of ignoring or running away we face them and go into them and only inside are we able to see things from a different perspective. Well, only if we are prepared for change.

Fun guy, There are some magnificent steel bridges all around the world to marvel at. The engineering is stupifying.
