BTW. Fidel was scouted by the Washington Senators baseball team but he didn't make the cut. Imagine what a different history it would have been if Castro had become a professional ball player in the United States.

Fidel Castro helped and attacked Cuba simultaneously. He liberated Cuba from a libertine playground of wealthy Westerners who enjoyed vice and abasing Cuba and the people, where the country was run by Batista, a Western puppet. He attacked democracy and representation by the people. He incarcerated, tortured and killed thousands of dissidents and fostered an ethos of paranoia and desperation in a Caribbean paradise. The USSR enabled him to so do, by bankrolling him. He also created one of the most literate and educated society and a world class health care system. Hate him or love him, he was a man who always left an unequivocal impression.
