when I visited Finland the house I was staying in was heated directly from the heat in deeper levels of the earth and I wondered why we don't all have this? It seems obvious when you think about it

My father cooled and heated his house via geothermal installed below ground. He still had to use some energy from electric grid. This was in PA and one has to have enough land for installation in the ground. Costs some extra money up from but then saves on energy costs in subsequent years.
