In which year was the board game, 'Monopoly' first published?

This was the best game. I like the original so all of the different versions. It taught us allot .

Player #96919, We had Monopoly when I was young and it had wooden blocks for houses and hotels. Also it had one green 50 note and one yellow 20 note and nicely die-cast pieces like a sailing ship and a yellow bulldozer. I wonder what happened to the set?

Love Monopoly,it's my favourite board game ever. I still have my original one that was a Christmas present from my parents and it's 48yrs old !
