JezzerLX, Too true. As an American living in Britain I am constantly being corrected for saying o ray gan o instead of orie gonno, and baysil instead of bahsill. I grew up in an Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn, so I pronounce both as my Italian friends and in-laws do.

We have a pot in the kitchen with sweet basil and purple basil. We love to use it in sauces, on pizza, with a grape tomato... yummy!

Love basil! Never had purple but need to look for it. I wonder if it tastes different?

It is also used to treat snakes and insects bite.

I grow both of these along with many other herbs. I like the look and scent and use in cooking.
