andi210461, yes, the dog in the pic is a chinook puppy. So adorable!
Player Raving Lu
MadMarcus1812, Yes there is a model of helicopters named Chinook. Winds that begin in Alaska and Northern Canada and flow south into the Northern United States between the Rocky Mountains and the Appalachian Mountains are called Chinook winds. There is a species of salmon called Chinook salmon.

The dog in the picture looks so typically what we call here in the Philippines an Azcal, or Askal, short for "asong kalye" or "street dog" in English. The term Azkal only appeared in the 2000s, and became the official name for our national/world soccer team, the Philippine Azcals. It is the most common dog in the entire Philippines, which is found even in the most remote area among households that are considered to be living below poverty level, but still manages to keep and feed a pet dog, which they consider vital to protecting and guarding their little (or with little value) possessions.

Player Raving Lu, oops... You beat me to the punch on the choppers and fish. But you just taught me about the Chinook windage. Thank you for the free education!

MadMarcus1812, Yes, there is. There is also a type of salmon (fish) by the same name.

This could make a great movie if a decent director made it. Just don’t let Disney do it!
JustJason007
MadMarcus1812, completely different from the dog. No relation.
KittyKat
MadMarcus1812, Yes there is. Army refers to them as " Shithooks"... Apache 'copters are referred to as "Trashies". Something to do with the way they were made.
J
I thought Chinook was a species of Salmon as well. Chinook helicopters were used by the army and to move supplies, freight and men, I think.

ChampionNymph37634, If God didn't want us to eat animals, He wouldn't have made them out of MEAT...
Player #5100533
Didn't Byrd, EAT the dogs on that fateful expedition?? Just asking ????
ChampionNymph37634
Missed the question, but I'm in love with the cute pup in the picture. How anyone could ever be cruel to animals is a mystery to me. Yes, I do eat meat & make no apology for it. I have no problem with animals harvested as food in a humane manner. After all, animals do eat one another, and the nature films I've seen show that their manner of death is very unpleasant.

I thought Chinook was just a type of tandem helicopter!
