Being taken from a kid's information source what it doesn't tell you is that most of the nests are built in the middle of shallow high salinity lakes and there is a huge chick mortality rate either if the water evaporates too soon and the salty mud concretes to their legs until they can't lift them or they are too young or weak to make the trek to less saline water where they can start to feed themselves and learn to fly.
