I grew up on a farm. We had a variety of animals including chickens. We used to open termite mounds for the chickens as a treat in addition to their normal feed. They loved it.

Daisy, I've had many opossums overnight in my chicken coop. Unless it's a big one, I let them stay as they'll eat mice. Never lost a hen to one yet!
