I used to teach blind kids so I was able to read (with my eyes, not my finger tips) and write it with a special machine. Although the braille system uses a template of 6 points in 2 vertical columns of three, to make all the letters, numbers, characters etc. you need a combination of differing number of actual dots from one dot to six in various positions. It's actually quite hard to learn and I'm always amazed how quickly the blind children can read.

This answer is wrong. Example the letter “a” has one dot in a six dot cell.

Gewane, It's been observed for a long time that the loss of one of our five senses increases the others. Well done for being a Teacher to children who needed your help. Much Respect.
