Deborah , I got the answer wrong, but it got me thinking, maybe not poisonous to humans but insects or some animals. God knows; I love tomatoes I always order extras on my Turkey burgers and salads. I love homemade salsas too.

A huge part of the UK tomato imports used to come from Guernsey in the Channel Isles. Each grower had a ' ropeness/weather's colour chart. By checking the UK weather in the precise place they were sending them to, they would pick at the moment that would mean they'd be perfect either sent to Scotland or Cornwall. Alad, It all ended when Britain joined the EU and cheap Dutch tomatoes flooded the UK market.
