SAC69, When I was a kid, I visited Yellowstone with my parents. I was watching a geyser erupt, (Old Faithful-I think). I then asked my parents, "Is this where they make the clouds?"

Water has 3 states: ice, liquid, gas. Temperature causes water to change into these 3 states. Watch boiling water go from liquid to the gas state as it roses from the pot. Warm air causes water in gas form to rise. As it rises it reaches the freezing air high in the atmosphere and the water molecules begin to move closer, causing gas water to change to liquid water--rain, which then comes back to earth to start the water cycle again. Snow occurs when the surrounding air is below 32 degrees and the precipitation remains frozen.

Clouds are gas water moving closer due to colder temperature higher in the atmosphere. As the molecules get closer the clouds become darker and the molecules are so sense they can no longer float in the sky.

ChampionNymph37634, i thought so too. If it’s water and ice, how does it not fall down? Oh! Maybe gravity works only in rainy season 😜😜

Huh? If clouds are water & ice, what keeps them in the air? I thought they must be a lighter than air gas in the form of water vapor. Guess not.
