In football (soccer), how far from the goal line is the penalty mark?
Correct answer: 11 meters (12 yards)

I am not a number.
Red Baron EGTO,
I use an elf meter at Christmas to count how many Santa brings with him. It's a long term study and usually one or two, but one year counted 47 though I think it was probably just one of them having fun.

Years ago I used to edit an English-language fanzine for fans of German football. The fanzine was called “Elfmeter”, (eleven metres) which is the German word for penalty kick.

The rules have changed for the goalkeeper since I played in the 70's & 80's. They could not move their feet until the ball was kicked, making a save even less likely.
