Correct answer: Buddy Holly

In addition to being a great performer Buddy Holly was a great song writer. Very sad about Buddy’s wife losing the baby.

I spent time with a woman who claimed to be Richie Valance’s niece. I didn’t believe her until she told a story about Richie babysitting the nieces and nephews and that he always sang to them. That is really something an uncle would do. They all played like they were a band. So sad to have them all die so young.

The phrase is popular in Don Mcleans song American pie as a tribute to Buddy Holly. I'm a big Don McLean fan my favorite is Vincent about Vincent Van Gogh.

Richie Valens left behind Donna his sweetheart and first love. They weren't married but I bet she's never forgotten him. Life can be so unfair sometimes.
