my mother raised shelties and showed them. at one time, very popular and also known as a toy collie. wonderful family pet and great guard

OakBear71282, Shelties are not toy collies! Toy dogs are dogs which have been deliberately bred down in size - the sheltie is small naturally and contrary to the beliefs of some is not a miniature version of the rough collie, it is a completely different breed. Much the same as why we dont call our Shetland ponies 'toy shetlands' - they are completely different from those deliberately bred down miniature versions.
