i saw this movie on opening night on a Chicago theater with dozens of survivors..not me...and nobody moved for 15 minutes after the movie ended.

I made my adult children watch this movie before we visited Auschwitz, to give them some prospective of what happened there. Such a sad place.

I've heard said that German teenagers are obliged to watch it at school. I've been to Germany quite a few times; the message is very strong that this must never happen again. This is especially so in Nürnberg. There is a large museum dedicated to the subject next to Hitler's former parade ground. It is still there as a reminder.

Player #4230791, Then why is he buried in Israel, and is revered by the descendants if survivors. How many people who were in the nazi party were allowed to be buried there. Ok it's been made into a big film, and some license was taken, but the basic story is true.
