In 1864, when US President Lincoln signed the Yosemite Grant, it launched which system?

Ok. Time for a little education. Yosemite was set aside in 1864 but it belonged to the state of California and later became a national park. The first actual national park was Yellowstone in 1872. President Theodore Roosevelt signed the Antiquities Act which allowed him to establish several national monuments. He was a huge proponent of conservation and national parks but he did not establish the National Park Service. That did not happen until 1916, under President Wilson. Today there are about 420 units of the National Park Service. Each of them unique and of great cultural or natural value.

Just like Yellowstone these days. Please don't try to play with the Bison.

Although it can be argued that Yellowstone is the first National Park thanks to Roosevelt, in a broader sense one could say Lincoln and Yosemite put the idea in motion. In any case, lets just be grateful for the creation of lands set aside not to be disturbed and enjoy them.

this is totally incorrect as many of the players said. Yellowstone was the first national park. infers that this could be the birth / idea however the answers are totally misleading. how do we get incorrect question /answers taken out of this game?
