Melode, Many people today treat children the same way. I made friends with an Amish woman over the years. She wove fabulous carpets. one of the sons regularly helped cleaning my barns chicken house. Do you ever see any handicapped children and helpless elders? Amish orphans? I really cared for her and her son but am not allowed to associate with them anymore.

Charles Dickens is such a great writer and social activist. He had a lot of influence with the royals in changing the horrible working conditions.To treat children the way the orphanages did was inexusable.

I watched the movie and I felt so sorry for Oliver I know why his surname is twist because he's life was in a twist

it's sad how children were treated during that time
