Kumquats are good but a strange fruit. It starts out extremely sour but as you chew it it gets really sweet. I like them though.

I've eaten them a few times around Christmas. If memory serves me, they were included in a fruit basket type holiday gift. I popped them in my mouth whole - peel & all - they weren't bad - tasted much like an orange. In fact, I think they would make a good marmalade, the same as oranges.

you can eat the peel... I agree they taste like orange peel. the are very ornamental and often used in fruitcakes. makea a good curl of garnish on a cranberry cocktail.
