I live in Aiken, SC. Evalyn Walsh-McLean wintered in Aiken. She was known to put the diamond around her dog’s collar during lunch parties & stored it in her lingerie drawer after parties. She wore the massive diamond as decoration on her gowns & her swimsuits wherever she went & even while gardening. She would also often lose the diamond & then throw parties & make a game of finding it.

I view the Hope Diamond at the Smithsonian. It is beautiful and like nothing you ever seen. It’s far too large and gaudy to actually ever be worn.

I met Jack Murphy about 25 years ago…also known as “Murph the Surf”, who stole the Hope Diamond. He passed away in 2020. He got a life sentence but was paroled later and was on life-time parole after that until his death.
