On 5th July 2016 I was trapped in traffic jam for 30 hours full. Some friends even trapped for more than 48 hours. Many people from Jakarta (the state capital) went to their hometown in Central Java or East Java to celebrate Idul Fitri (Islamic holiday). They went by the toll way. The newly opened toll way has 6 lines but in Brebes, Central Java Province, Indonesia, there were only 2 exits (Brexit). So the traffic jam grew longer while those leaving the way could not drive away quickly since the other side of the street was also full with vehicles. It was a blessing for the villagers. They constructed makeshift toilets along the irrigation canal. Everything they brought to the toll way was sold out immediately: instant noodle, corn, water melon, also bamboo fans to fight the heat. Long queue in fuel stations. Many drivers chose to buy fuel in Jerry cans from the villagers, although the price was double or even triple from the normal price.

Mars V,
I remember that quake, as it was when the SF Giants were playing vs the Oakland A's. I'm from Manhattan Beach, CA, so I tend to remember details and dates of quakes all over the world, due to living through many in my lifetime.

I was stuck for an hour on the lower deck of the San Francisco Bay bridge in 1989 about a week before it collapsed in an earthquake.
