We grew up watching the 1937 movie on TV. As an adult, I discovered that it was filmed in color.

The cave is actually a huge, labyrinth-like cavern, and Tom glimpses Injun Joe while Tom himself is lost inside its many winding corridors. The main entrance to the cave is sealed up after Tom's escape. Injun Joe is later found dead of starvation and dehydration inside the sealed entrance.
