What is food called that is eaten routinely?

Any food can be a staple food if it's eaten regularly. The question is fine, how do you guys not understand it???

I didn't have a problem with this question, but I see how others might. It sorta depends on what one's eating habits are, I suppose. In my family, potatoes are a "staple" food because we eat them in some way at every meal. For others, it might be rice or pasta.

I went into Staples the other day. I couldn't find any food.

I actually like to eat metal staples. Nothing like eating a handful of shiny staples after a long day.
