Sting Ray 69, we dug up roots at my granparent's farm and made sassafras tea 55 years ago. most kids today have never heard of it.

I may not be an eastern hemisphere socialite or philanthropist, but, at 36—not to mention, a lifelong American—I can CONFIDENTLY and WITHOUT a doubt in mind, that not only has sassafras been commercially outlawed since the 1960s, it hasn’t been recognized as a garden commodity or kitchen ingredient since the late 1800s to early 1900s. So, yeah, just throwin' that in there, too…

Player #6852065, my mom told me my great grandfather used to go in the woods and find sassafras. he made tea out of it. every season, 4 times a year he would drink it. said it was the best thing for your body. kept you healthy.

Sassafras is still used in cocktails, sassafras rice, etc. It's quite expensive. It comes from filaments in the blooming flower. I've never heard it's bad for the liver. I will have to research that on a scholarly medical site. If this is legit information, I'm thankful that it is brought to my attention.
