Which famous Egyptian landmark is hidden in the picture?
Correct answer: The Great Sphinx of Giza
happydoghappycat
Sketches of the Sphinx by the Dane Frederic Louis Norden were created in 1737 and published in 1755, well before the era of Napoleon. The sketches show the Sphinx without a nose. This clearly contradicts the legend that Napoleon's army destroyed the nose off of the Sphinx. I found this information, in some what different words, on the Smithsonian website.

I had a Nile cruise booked in 1997, but 3 weeks before I was due to go I had a DVT and had to cancel. I've never had another opportunity and still regret not having the chance to see the sites,.
