Lancasters were used for night bombing. The Americans used the Flying Fortresses for day bombing.

Player en_846, British thought daylight bombing was too dangerous and resorted to the less accurate night bombing leaving daylight bombing to the Americans whose bombers were designed for the more accurate daylight bombing.
