I'm 64 and remember my mum having some lovely dresses when I was young, they would have been bought from local shops, so not very expensive. I only wore a skirt to work because I had to, and I've worn trousers every day since I retired in August 1997. Dresses are lovely, but trousers are so much more practical.

VividPotion6704, I loved the dresses my mom made me. I remember her taking me to the fabric shop and I'd search through the pattern books and then the fabric. Ladies of her generation were their own designers, and those who were lucky enough to have a mom who could see were blessed to have one of a kind originals.
