Which natural gum or resin is extracted from small, thorny tree species of the genus Commiphora?
Correct answer: Myrrh

Myrrh was actually brought for Jesus. It used to be used for embalming and therefore symbolized His coming death. The gold represented that He was a King.

Loren, thanks for your information about the symbolism of gold and myrrh in the nativity story. Frankenstein was presumably a symbol of being brought back to life. LOL.

luckycatfay,
A common name for it now is Commiphora molmol.
There are apparently several chemicals/ medicines including Myrrhone,Furanodiene , Sesquiterpene and Curzerene.
Source is Google.
As with many old remedies, modern chemistry will analyse the effects and identify active ingredients. You wouldn’t apply myrrh in the same way that it was used in the time of Jesus

Amazing it's never mentioned in any ingredients maybe they call it something else
