Which of these is a surgical technique used to join two or more vertebrae?
Correct answer: Spinal fusion

I had spinal fusion surgery in May 2016 @ 37 yrs old, too many years of PM and was in so much pain that I tried to kill myself; I should've had the surgery sooner but was afraid due to all of the horror stories I'd heard from others, since having it done I am in far less pain, off of all medications for pain, depression, etc and I have more range of motion than I had prior. My fusion is at C-5&6, C-6&7, need it done for C-3&4 but dr wants to wait because I'm still young; he should've done it with the rest but said he hoped the fusion below it would help it to heal. Didn't help that I was rear-ended at full speed while at a stop light 5 months after the surgery, even so, I'm still in much better shape than before I had it done.

constantgamer0421, I also have a fusion but in lumbar. Has been 14 yrs. I have fallen a few times, though I try hard to remain upright. The falls happened years ago but catching up. Not the exact same as whiplash with cervical fusion yet basically. Hope you go well.

I'm waiting to have an MRI to determine the best way to go for nerve pain in neck. I'm hoping for therapy instead of a fusion but what ever relieves the pain🥴

These days American surgeons prefer other types of surgery on the spinal vertebrae because fusion reduces movement so much.
