I'm Canadian. Never heard of it.

Birdman
As Boy Scouts we learned to build them to earn our winter survival badge. Pile the snow and pack it down, then press 20cm sticks in the top. Start digging snow from underside until you touch the end of the sticks, this gives you the roof thickness.

Beverley Australia
WingManDan1, Never heard of it either. But I am an Australian.

Canozbrit
WingManDan1, I am also Canadian and have never heard of it. Maybe 'snow fort'?
