they were commonly prescribed for women in the 1960's for what were called "nerves" but was probably just unhappiness or menopause symptoms or anything the doctor was unable to diagnose. They were given to my mother and made her feel suicidal... she threw them down the lav and took up yoga instead. Happy ending story 😁😊😇
