Don't recall the brand, but my parents have my great-grandfather's typewriter, which looks similar to the one pictured. Still works too!

I graduated HS knowing how to type fast and made a successful career doing it and without a college education, and I never worked on the typewriter shown. electronic typewriters were the new thing then. But in leisure time I used to love typing stories on a clackety old manual...you get a slow rhythm going and it's kind of like a forceful dance for your fingers. knowing the keyboard layout by heart is a must needless to say...

my dad had a big electric typewriter that was always breaking down. just think how often Twain's must have gotten jammed etc!
