For goodness sakes, who told you Atatürk was his surname? Please, try to do a little research before attempting an explanation, thanks. In any case, he may have been like a father to (some of?) his followers living in the republic of Turkey, but most definitely not to the Turks as an ethnic group, i.e., the various Turkic peoples.
