Which is the largest bear species?
Correct answer: Polar bear

Timmo
justafan99705, I also know the Kodiak bear to be the largest species. First thing I looked for in answers and it wasn't there.

Probably no longer . Many polar bears are now struggling to survive and of those that o, they are showing signs of serious weight loss due to the difficulty in maintaining a proper diet due to the shrinking of the polar ice

I, myself, have been up close and personal with three polar bears. They were unconscious of course but they are VERY BEAUTIFUL AND DEADLY BEARS.

Sorry, the Brown Bear, sub species Kodiak, is the largest. Often times similarly sized, the Kodiak Bear is considered the largest.

I have no idea if there is any poler bears in the Dublin zoo in Ireland

The Polar Bear 🐻❄️ is my favourite zoo animal in San Diego Zoo. I like to see polar bears in Churchhill, Manitoba, Canada 🇨🇦 and somewhere around the North Pole.

I woulda thought it was a grizzly.🤷🏻♀️. But that wasn’t choice.

Happy girl, the fact is disputed. Some zoologists think pandas are bears, and some think pandas are raccoons.

Happy girl, then what are they?

My six year old daughter knew this.

I'm surprised it wasn't the Grizzly Bear.

justafan99705 & Timmo, since Kodiak is not an answer option, that leaves us with Polar. There seems to be a debate in the research as to which is correct. The largest bear recorded in modern times was a 2,200 pound (998 kilogram) polar bear shot in Alaska; according to National Geographic.

Happy girl
Pandas are not bears

justafan99705, the polar bear is the LARGEST bear in the world, period. They routinely reach 1,400 to 1,600 PDS ! The males.
