I don't know what tradition the SPG has been reading, but Lands End is famous as the most westerly point of mainland England, and Dunnet Head, not John O'Groats, is the most northerly tip of mainland Great Britain. Lands End and John O Groats are tourist-traps, but The Lizard and Dunnet Head are stunning beautiful places and unlike their famous neighbours are free to visit!

the up to date distance by road is 837 miles. I don't know what I means 'traditional distance' means only it's probably been superseded by new roads
