As a former ARBA (American Rabbit Breeder's Association) member, I can tell you there is no larger sanctioned breed of rabbit than the Flemish Giant. I also know if you're wanting to breed for meat, then you wouldn't choose this breed. One would want a Satin, Californian or even a New Zealand.

A good number of years back me and my partner bought some New Zealand Whites intending to breed them for eating. Our aim was to cut down our intake of unnecessary chemicals in our food. For the same reason, we also had free range chickens and ducks for eggs and a host for milk. When it came to the killing of the rabbits we just didn't have the heart to do it. I did however discover that a mix of goat and rabbit hair was great for spinning and knitting stuff.
