Castleton is where the caves are and is well worth a visit. There are 2 more caves as well not with the stone in though. Blue John was thought to have been mined out although rumoured to be another vein somewhere which was accidentally found by one of the grandchildren, I believe, & so is being mined again. It is a beautiful stone & I loved growing up near there.

There was a program about it and they mine annually to extract the blue John for jewellery and visitor attractions,living close to it,it’s amazing and shows it’s not going to last forever,the seam is getting smaller by the day
