In medicine, what is paracentesis?

Had one done to drain blood from my peritoneal cavity from a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, whole ordeal was the worst physical pain I've ever experienced, way worse than birthing my daughter, and she ripped through my cervix at 4cm dilation while on no pain meds or epidural numbing, those came afterward since I had to have an emergency c-section!
