I've visited Beaumont several times, but I don't think I knew she was from there. My mother sometimes mentioned Babe as someone special when I was a kid. She was a great role model and inspiration for women.

Both my parents were avid golfers (went golfing on their honeymoon!) and my siblings and I grew up with the game. I knew of Babe Didrickson from a very early age. My father shared his birthday (9 January) with the great Sam Sneed who also could have been his twin!

Maestra, Back in the 70s, a tv movie about her aired. Babe's husband George, was played by ex Detroit Lions player, Alex Karras. Blazing Saddles came after that. I don't recall who played Babe.
