Who was the only person in the US military to hold the rank of Field marshal?
Correct answer: Douglas MacArthur

I’m a linguistic professor. Many of these explanations appear to be written by people whose first language isn’t English. Most of the mistakes are with prepositions and verb tenses. This is an international game. I’m impressed with what appear to be translations from average trivia lovers. Could you translate academic information into a second language perfectly?

JustBreath
Great info, but horribly written.

CyanJaguar62
Lucybird, agreed! Cut these folks some slack people! Would you have the courage to post in a foreign language? I would not.

Qatwalk
Lucybird, I wholeheartedly agree with your answer. You are so gracious, unlike player #7106191. I too have studied other languages for many years and realize how difficult foreign languages are, especially propositions and as you said,"academic language". with so many arrogant and rude comments I see posted, it is refreshing to see someone wise like yourself.

Player Suze Eckert
You folks writing these questions, need a better editor. That one is atrocious!

Lucybird,
Half the players complaining about the questions or answers do so in very poor language

Sharon Earley Cates
Does ANYONE proof read anymore?

Gerald &Estie Anderson
Many of you are very "dumb"

Deborah
I am sure that a competent editor could have taken the explanation given by oscarakit and smoothed out the language while still retaining the knowledge therein.

Lash
Sharon Earley Cates, I know! For example, proofread is one word, not two. Can't ANYONE get things right?

Player #29152846
Come on...give them a break. I knew the answer right away and knew who they were talking about.

Player Gigi #28446253

Tony Raztraño

Player #4249881, true that

Player #5099592

Player #4209348Roths, you must have x ray vision because I don’t see a corn pipe

Player #1486529
Diver Dan, interesting fact, especially since I was a military brat at Clark Air Base in the 60’s and my dad always drank San Miguel beer.

wharfrat57
Horribly written but beat to learn that.

Player #4209348Roths
the corn cob pipe was a dead giveaway.
