I read the book many many times before I saw the movie. Although the movie was/is a classic, there is no comparison to reading the book. I have reread the book several dozen times and will continue doing so till I die ( or till I can no longer read ).

I made the mistake of reading the bóok before seeing the movie. Was disappointed in the movie. They cut out 2 of her kids and several very good characters. But then that's Hollywood for you.

Player #11298023, The first shot of Clark Gable from the top of the stairs was amazing. After the restoration and re-release, I saw it in a large theater in Hollywood. When that first shot of Gable came on the screen, people in the audience cheered. It was beautiful.
