MIT came immediately to mind, although I didn't know the answer. My man is a chemical engineer, and the engineers I know have an offbeat sense of humor. Smart but weird.

My university had a large rock that was stolen each year. The mission was to keep it as long as possible without any other student groups getting their hand on it. Fun!

I left a half gallon of milk, unopened, in the fridge for about 6 months. It solidified, but didn’t really smell awful. I dumped it on the compost pile, and it was gone in the morning.
