What do earthworms feed on?

Great for the garden, good source of organic fertilizer. The earthworms in my garden are never removed, always put back if accidentally dug up.

Is that one of the reasons some people want to be creamated? They get freaked out by the thought of worms 🪱 crawling all around them.

Is there a heterotroph that does not eat live and dead organic matter?

Great for fishing! As a kid I would wet the yard with the hose at night and go out a little later with a flashlight and catch them. It was not easy, I had to be fast as they slide back into their hole like lightning! Free bait!
