Many years ago I was driving at night on a country road. A barn was very close to the road, so close the security light lit the road.
I was shocked to see an owl , about three foot high with a 5-6 foot wingspan, fly across the road in front of me. In the dark it looked as big as a flying pig. It was a lifetime privilege to see for sure!

There is a camping area my friends & I used where each night around 9 or 10, a small owl 6" or 8" tall would perch on a tree limb near our campfire. The cute thing would observe us doing our "camping thing" for a couple hours & then fly away, back home I suppose, to relay events of the night to owl buddies. The owl seemed to know there was no danger, and just wanted to be part of our group for a while.
