I have severe night terrors from PTSD. I've even gotten physically violent in my sleep. Requires a small does of an antipsychotic to dampen the intensity.

I had them when I was very young. My youngest son did, too. His was caused by being over tired.

My youngest son had them when he was 4 until about 9 years old. They were intense! For absolutely no reason he would start yelling and he would be sitting up in bed, looking as if he was awake, but completely passed out! I couldn't calm him down! Then eventually he would go back to sleep. He would remember nothing about it the next day! Glad he grew out of that!

I’ve only experienced this twice, both when I took valerian root as a sleep aid.

Ray ; I eat vanilla bean ice cream before I go to bed cause with me it causes nightmares. And then I realize it's a nightmare so I can actually turn the dream into something that I want like winning the lottery or being on an ocean cruise 🛳 .

The first time I had night terror I was eleven yrs. old, I knew it was not just a simple nightmare. I can't breathe like a huge slab is pressing me down and my body is paralyze where the more I struggle the more it gets worse. I was shitscared and thought that some kind of spirit is messing with me, I prayed really hard then I jolted awake. Was afraid to sleep since then but thankfully it's not attacking anymore.
